Sara Kaplan-Khodorovsky

Employment Attorneys Serving Northern and Central New Jersey

Sara Kaplan-Khodorovsky joined Green Savits, LLC as of Counsel in 2021.  Sara came to Green Savits after devoting nearly a decade of her practice to representing employees in their claims for ERISA benefits under employer-sponsored short term and long-term disability policies, as well as life insurance and health insurance benefits.  She also has general litigation experience, having represented clients in an array of matters including employment discrimination and whistleblower claims, nursing home negligence, contract disputes, and oppressed shareholder litigtation in both State and Federal Court and at arbitration. She has lectured both locally and nationally on ERISA disability claims and has  also written on employee benefits issues,  and is thrilled to bring her knowledge of ERISA to the benefit of Green Savits' clients.   She was admitted to practice law in 2010 and is a member of the bars of New Jersey, New York, and the United States District Courts for the District of New Jersey and the District of Columbia.  She has been named a Rising Star by New Jersey Super Lawyers magazine for 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Sara teams with her clients from the inception of the disability claims process, from reviewing insurance policies and providing caring and thoughtful advice, to assisting with filing for disability and other employee benefits in a way that optimizes her clients' chances for success.  She also assists individuals whose disability insurance claims have been denied by filing administrative appeals and litigating ERISA insurance claims in Federal Court.  Representative ERISA litigation matters include multiple favorable Federal Court rulings that her clients are entitled to disability benefits; meaningful settlements for  clients in litigation.

Along with ERISA disability, health, and life insurance matters, Sara's practice at Green Savits includes matters involving executive compensation as well as other traditional employment law matters involving discrimination, whistleblower and FMLA claims.   She recently authored an article for the New Jersey Bar Association's Labor and Employment Law Quarterly on protecting the disabled employee's rights in the context of the complex employee benefit legal landscape.

In her spare time, Sara is an avid reader and enjoys being outdoors, travelling, and spending time with her family.  She is also a proud member of the Board of Directors of Partnerships for People, a Division of Keystone Human Services, which provides independent housing and occupational assistance to disabled members of the New Jersey Community.
